Guest guest
Kathy, I live in Berkley-- Dean is a certified music therapist- she is his teacher. She works not only on piano skills, but on fine motor skills, following directions, working through frustration, etc. More than just a "regular" piano teacher would do. She's very good but is going to be having a baby in August-- not sure if she is taking any more new students. If you're interested, I can ask her and then give you her number. She comes to our house from Ferndale, not sure how far she is willing to drive. can I brag for a second?> I think sharing all this good news on-line lately is great- we all need> to hear each other's good things as well as offer support for the> difficult situations. Guest guest
Thanks, Dan... I am glad has made such great progress at the HOPE center, and in such a short period of time! That is a wonderful benefit of ABA, changes are often so immediate, once it "clicks", it clicks! And just as a reminder, either or puts on a weekend workshop every month at Beaumont...I can't say enough about what ABA (and the diet) has done in our lives. Re: can I brag for a second? Having met and at the zoo recently, I have to attest to his progress as well. He very politely said "hello" to me and my oldest (typically developing) daughter, and in outward appearance (at least for our brief meeting) was indistinguishable from her. So, consider bragged on once more :)I'll have to take this opportunity to publicly thank and the entire EDM community for introducing us to ABA and the HOPE Center. We've recently completed the 12-week, 3-hour per day marathon at the center, and have entered a "maintenance" phase. I looked at his before and after abilities charts, and the progress has been striking. Thirteen weeks ago, he was unable to imitate anything. Now, he'll attempt to copy the dance moves of the characters on his favorite video tapes. He's still non-verbal, but every once in a while, usually when under extreme duress, he'll use an isolated word correctly. He's just turned 4 in March, and we haven't heard words since he was 18 months old, when he started to regress. Now, we're seeing only progress, which is amazing to us, because in January, both Drs. Youngs and Maltz considered him "stuck."We've got a long way to go, but now we're finally going in the right direction.I'll post 's progress charts when I get the opportunity to scan them in.Dan> I think sharing all this good news on-line lately is great- we all need > to hear each other's good things as well as offer support for the > difficult situations. Guest guest
, I'm glad to hear that they do the workshops every month. I was so upset when I saw the postings for the one this weekend, since I really want to go, but I have to be away for work reasons from today until Tuesday. Thanks for posting this! Guest guest
What a great story! is just adorable and really does have a great sense of humor. One of my favorite moments, and I wasn't even there, but took a picture of and Jagger hugging. When she gave us a copy of the picture I about died. It is so precious. , if you happen to have that picture on your computer, please email it to me, I would like to send it to my mom. Thanks, Lynn
