Guest guest
Find South Beach DietT-Friendly Fare at Au Bon Pain! Whether you're on the road for business or going out for a casual meal, you can now dine with confidence at many of your favorite restaurants with The South Beach DietT Dining Guide. This handy reference book gives Phase-specific menu advice from 75 of the country's most popular chain and family restaurants, including Boston Market, Denny's, Chili's Grill and Bar, and P.F. Chang's China Bistro. Additionally, the Dining Guide offers suggestions for your favorite ethnic cuisines, as well as a listing of South Beach DietT-friendly meals from business-class dining establishments in 15 of the most visited U.S. cities. In the Dining Guide, you'll find specific menu options, like Au Bon Pain's Chicken Caesar Wrap, along with nutritional information (where available) including calories, total fat, carbs, fiber, and Phase, displayed in a helpful chart. You'll also get general serving suggestions, such as the one below, excerpted from the Dining Guide for Au Bon Pain, a café that offers a variety of salads, soups, stews, and sandwiches at over 230 locations nationwide. Best Choices: Soups, stews, and salads are the best choices at Au Bon Pain, with quite a variety in reasonably sized portions. A serving of soup or stew makes a good start to a satisfying lunch, and it can also be an excellent snack. At Au Bon Pain, the menu typically offers two different stews and four different soups, so on any given day you should be able to find at least one good choice. Look for the soups that have the most vegetables and the fewest starches - Southwest Vegetable Soup is a good option. If one of the soups doesn't appeal to you, have a salad. The choices at Au Bon Pain are wide-ranging and go beyond the usual fast-food standards. Keep in mind that if you order a Caesar Salad, and it comes with croutons, that makes it a Phase 3 dish. Skipping the croutons makes it Phase 1. The sandwiches are a bit more of a challenge for a South Beach dieter. But because many of the breads at Au Bon Pain are made from whole grains, they're acceptable. You can also create your own sandwich from either smoked turkey breast, Black Forest ham, roast beef, tuna, or grilled chicken breast with your choice of bread and toppings. If you choose turkey, tuna, or grilled chicken on a multigrain bread and limit the toppings to the vegetable choices (romaine lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, and the like), it's possible to put together a South Beach DietT meal. In fact, eating only half of any of these sandwiches is your best bet. Ditto for the wraps (which come on lavash) and the baked sandwiches (which come on focaccia). Stay away from any sandwiches on breads made with refined white flour, such as baguettes, croissants, white bread, or white rolls - and skip the baguette slice that comes with the salads.
