LOL! I had to laugh about the burned beans and squash. Now....my Mom has

always been a functional cook (like she didn't burn things) but she never used

any spices really. I think she's still got spices in her cabinet in the

McCormick's cardboard boxes. Anyone remember those? Anyway, I recall most

dinners having a plate with 2-3 brown or white things....almost never any color.

I figure I'm eating well when my plate has tons of different colors on it.

Visual images ARE helpful, and that's a good one. The plate is pretty. The

food is

appetizing.

My previous " dinnerplate " image, based on my mom's HORRIBLE cooking, was " one

blob

of burned green beans, one blob of a 'yellow veggie' such as singed crookneck

squash, or

crusty or hard yam, or potato, or watery corn, " and a blob of dry meat or

main course.

The salad was in a separate salad bowl -- with terrible tasting diet dressing

on it.
