I took paxil for a long time for panic attacks, and

although i didn't know i had CMT at the time, i was

affected, and it made me feel extremely weak, and my

legs went numb occasionally. Made my hands shake,

too. I didn't like it, so I eventually stopped taking

it completely.

I hope that was some help. :-)

It is for panic attacks and depresson. I thought maybe I was having a side

effect from it but now I think it was the weather and poor circulation. There

is not anyway I can live with it paxil.

I have heard that paxil is actually highly addictive (contrary to what the

information says) and many people who were prescribed it and took it wish

they had taken something else, as they can't stop taking it now. 20/20 (I

think-maybe Dateline) did a peice on it too. Maybe try doing an internet

search to learn more?

I was on 10-20 miligrams of paxil for approx 6 months. I didnt find it at

all addictive. Perhaps in higher doses????? I quit cause I didnt find it

helping some of the reasons I got on it. However, I actually felt it helped

for depression. I didnt find it helped or changed my rosacea. Although, I

have a different type then most. Mine was caused by a strong glycolic acid

peel which made my skin so sensitive I suddenly reacted to ALL topicals. So

my redness is caused by constant irritation then subsequent broken

capillaries from irritation. If your redness is caused by emotions it could

help. I heard Zoloft may be good for us. Check the archives for past posts

for more info.

I tried Paxil (SSRI) for 6 months worked up to 50mg 3

years ago with zero benefits. Am now considering

trying Effexor-XR which is an SSNRI that many more

flushers include those with EM say have helped. Will

start with lowest dose 37.5mg for 6-8 weeks before

upping it (low & slow approach). Clonidine helps fast

with flushing & blushing but not depression which it

can in fact worsen.

Post back if anything helps,

My son takes 5htp, 50mg twice a day with 50 mg of B-6 twice a day. It is

supposed to balance out seritonin levels. I get it at the natural food

store. It was recommended by our DAN! doctor.
