Guest guest
Thanks for the ideas, Laurie -- We do have kayaks and can put them into the water right outside our house, but the water's too cold (and therefore unsafe) this time of year. But we do that when it warms up. There isn't enough snow to make cross-country skiing a " regular " thing . . . and don't want to pay so much for equipment I'd use only on the coldest days. [oops -- you said cross country " machine! " I've not heard of THAT!!! Hmnnn.... gimme a url...[ but I still have concerns about knee pressure on that. My right kneecap fights me a lot, even on the stationary bike. Nothing shows on X-ray, but it's under the knee cap. Yet, I do downhill skiing, so, I don't know.] Rowing? Possibly -- but I am unfamiliar with a " rowing ergometer. " Is that a machine you buy? If it works abs, and shoulders and arms, that's a possibility. Tell me more. Also, could you use it for cardio??? I'd like to hear about this thing. Where can I look online? Thanks! Oh! and -- I HAVE almost bought plane tickets to come see you! I want that rollerblading path!!!! Sounds WONDERFUL!!! I am so so so so jealous!!!!! Why can't I find a place like that around here? > > Anne, have you considered off-the-beaten-path exercises? Cross-country skiing? Rowing? Kayaking? I've been playing soccer for the past couple of years, but I'm starting to feel it in my joints. (I'm 44, but have arthritis in my feet, and now the knees are going.) I think watersports, continued rollerblading (on the rare occasions it's dry enough) and hill-hiking are where I'm headed next. > And if you're ever in Seattle, let me know and I'll take you blading on a smooth, flat and generally rock-free ten-mile path. In the past several years, I've seen two coyotes, numerous bald eagles, blue herons, and one humongous buck while rollerblading. It's gorgeous!! > > Laurie in Seattle
