Guest guest
Dear UK Bandsters, I have been informed that there will soon be another surgeon in London who will do the banding procedure. Please be patient, I will keep you posted. Barbara
Guest guest
Hurrah Suzanne, I'm glad you are going to start asking questions. I would definitely get a second opinion, I am sure the band should do a better job than it is doing for you. Telling you that you are eating too much is ridiculous, you could have learned that at a Weight Watchers meeting for a lot less money and lot less pain! Thank you for your good wishes and let's hope you can make the next meeting. Guest guest
Suzanne, Hi there, I had my surgery done 3/24 and have only lost 10 pounds. Well not really, I gained back 4 and then lost 1 at today's weigh in. I had my first fill last Wednesday and it didn't make a difference at all. I could still eat a VERY normal meal. Not small quantities like I thought, which is the only way that I'll ever lose weight. During the first fill he put in 3 ml's and had to remove one cause I thought I'd pop. So I didn't get a topped off first fill. Today I went back in and said OK guys this isn't working, I seem to be eating normally. I've never been one to eat junk, always good stuff, but always to much good stuff. So they put in one more ml today, they said that it may take 24 hours for me to really feel it. Hmmmmm.....I was able to eat a " normal " dinner. I now have 3 ml's in my band and am wondering if I'll ever have that full after a couple of bites feeling. I know it's only been a month, but I sure feel disappointed so far. I was glad (well not really) to hear that there is a person out there with my plight. I know it's only been a month and I should be patient, but so far I haven't seen the same results that a lot of the others have had in the first month. I'm working with the docs office and they told me to come in again next week if I'm still eating the same way. Every time I go in there it costs me $150.00, ouch, and this time they had a hard time finding my port. They poked be about six different times, I'd let them poke me dozens of times if I knew that my band would be tight and work. Oh well hope something starts to happen here pretty soon. Thanks for letting me ramble, maybe you should see if you can get someone to work with you to get adjusted tighter. I'll keep you posted as to what happens with mine. See ya!!! T. Guest guest
I've got 5.5 too in my SAGB and it's just about right for now. Guest guest
Dear Terri I get so upset for people when I read that the band isn't working for them. I get the feeling that most of the problems are down to the doctor and I believe that he should accept the responsibility and make sure everything works OK. Any additional fills should be free of charge if the first one doesn't do its job. After all, if you took your car in to have a new part fitted and it didn't work, the garage would be responsible and would have to put it right without charging. Let's hope he gets it right very soon. Love Janet At 20:10 29/04/99 -0700, you wrote: > > >Suzanne, >Hi there, I had my surgery done 3/24 and have only lost 10 pounds. Guest guest
From Lois Jervis loislane@... Suzanne, I live in Australia and from what my doctor has told me most Australians have the Bioentrics band. It holds less fluid than the Swedish one. I had to wait 3 and a half months for my first fill and he gave me .75ml. It seemed to work for the first week and a half and then I was back to eating larger portions again. They are still smaller than I used to eat and I only eat healthy stuff now but I see him in 2 weeks and will ask for a top up. I see Grace and Jo tomorrow and will ask them how much they have in their bands as they have a different doctor to me and it gives me some idea. Kim, Thanks for your offer and when I find a decent photo of myself I'll send it. LOL. , How is your friend going?
