Most spaghetti sauce recipes include sugar and if you didn't make it, the canned tomatoes probably had added sugar as well....
Guest guest
It's hte Italian grandma's sauce - fresh tomatoes, basil, a little olive oil, salt, a touch of parmesian, and meat (can't specific the meat - it's the family recipe). She wouldn't dream of using sugar, thinks if you use the right tomato you don't need it. > > > Yesterday was my first real day of Phase 1. It was pretty painless > > until dinner. Guest guest
You know it occurred to me that the South Beach Diet is a lot like if not the same as the GL Diet for diabetics.. It rates every food on a 1-100 scale and tells you to stay away from foods that rate over 70 as they raise your insulin levels which put glucose in your muscles and make it impossible for your muscles to burn fat instead of the glucose in them while you sleep. Also there are ways to ear pasta such as al dente (barely cooked) that don't raise your glucose as fast.. Also eating high carb bad carb things with fat can slow the raising of glucose levels therefore making them easier on your body... Anyway its an interesting read and I think this site is soo vast it might be worth a read.. I printed out the rating system and whoa I can keep it in my purse.. http://www.mendosa.com/common_foods.htm Click around a bit if your interested.. I learned a lot... It's like the whole key to staying healthy is to not eat this crap food that raises your glucose level.
