Dear ,

Lots of folks are/were addicted to diet sodas (I am a PepsiMax gal

myself) and they still drink them just let them go a bit flat.

On the other hand, I can still drink it, maybe that is more proof as to

why my band is not working. I now have 6.5 ml in, another .5 ml last

Friday and I managed to gain 2 kilos this week. Very depressing.

That is normal Tina. You probably already lost about

19-20 pounds or so...is that right? Well, you are

going through something they called the hybernation

syndrome. It will come off. It does in spurts. Lose

5-10 pounds....nothing for 2 or 3 weeks then some

weight loss.

Its too bad no one told me that the loss would be like

normal people lose. Also, the smaller you are, the

slower the weight is going to come off. Although the

scale may not be moving, inches are. Clothes will fit

loser so don't get discouraged. It happens to all of

us.

Be encouraged.

Yep, I've lost 19.5 pounds so far. I don't think I recall anything

about hibernation syndrome. I mean, I've heard the word, but didn't

really know what that meant.

I'll try and relax. Maybe I should weigh myself less than once a

week because it really ticked me off!! :)

Congrulations!!! 30 more to go...you can do it!!!!!

Honey, get some perspective. You've lost 20 lbs. in three weeks! That's something you never would have been able to do before the surgery, right? I mean, sure, the first few weeks of a crash diet, you might lose 12 lbs or so...but, you already lost that water weight in the 10 percent battle pre-surgery. Think of a box of butter, one pound. Stack up 20 of those. That's what you have lost. Imagine those 20 boxes on your body. They aren't there anymore! Don't be afraid that you will only lose 2 lbs a week forever.

If you've ever lost a lot of weight before, you should remember that the body adjusts and modulates all of the time. In my weight loss, I'd frequently lose a lb or two one week, half a lb the second week...and then eight lbs the third week, four lbs the fourth week...half a lb the next week...you know? i mean, no rhyme or reason to it...just shifts.

So you may find that the next time you lose weight, you lose quite a lot. Or maybe you'll lose slowly for a couple of weeks, and then you'll have a big jump. It's normal to do that.

Don't lose heart. You'll get there. You have two less lbs. of butter on your ass. That's something to cheer about. 20 less boxes of butter on your body. That's REALLY something.

Please remind me of all of this when I experience my first slow down, will ya?

Today, I weighed 229. I started at 235, gained five of water during the surgery. So, I've lost six lbs. which is great. And yet, it feels slow. How absurd is that? It isn't. I've been out of surgery for only a bit more than four days, and I've lost six real lbs. But, I seriously doubt that rate will continue for very long.

SO, take heart. You are smaller than you were! Nearly sixty lbs. smaller all together! That's AMAZING. Think about 60 boxes of butter. SIXTY boxes of butter are no longer on your body. SIXTY BOXES OF BUTTER!!!! Good work, my friend!!

OK Tina Deep Breath here!!!!

You are at the 3 week, oh my god what did you do to me phase. I hit

a plateau at 3-4 weeks post op and thought oh my god Im a failure,

even wls isnt working for me. But it really is only your body

finally realizing you did something to it and it is thinking its

starving!! Stick with what you are doing: water, protein, exercise

and it will get moving again...big time.

As for weighing Im the all time record keeper on obsessive weighing

in....at least 4 times a day. Im now really working on only once a

day. Im trying Im trying.

Robynn, first and foremost, how are you feeling. From

reading, it sounds like you are doing just great. I

am so happy for you.

Doesn't Tina sound just like me. I remember you

telling me " hey but you want to lose slower so your

body can keep up and you won't have so much saggy

skin " . I am glad my weight loss is coming off as it

is because I am averaging about 13 pounds a month. I

may be stuck at a weight for two weeks then a big jump

for the next two weeks and then stop for two weeks.

The cycle just keeps on but I don't care because I am

still losing weight as well as inches and I am in my

regular 12s (8-10 is my goal for size) and I have 40

more pounds to lose to get to my goal weight of 130

and I am not rusing because my one year anniversary is

Feb 8, 2006 (still a long way to go).

I sort of wish the surgeons will tell the preops that

the weight loss for some will be slower than others

because I know I went into this thinking that it would

just melt off. It has but in some sense, IT HAS NOT

and I am alright with that now.

I'm fine, Pam. Tired, but most of the pain has subsided. (although the tape is starting to be really , really itchy!!!)

Yes, I do remember your frustration. The surgeon told me that pear shaped women tend to lose weight a bit more slowly, for some reason. But, every body is different...every single body has their own rate of loss...and as long as that needle is going down, great. (I say this now, but I'm eager to lose enough to look good naked, as I want my sweet Frenchie boy in the biggest way...so I'm hoping it won't take too long....)

Love you,

Thanks for the perspective. I needed that! 20 boxes of butter not on

my ass is a great way to think of it!!

Before surgery, I would of been okay with a 2 pound weight loss in

one week but after surgery...it just seems like it should come off

quicker.

I'm done feeling sorry for myself. Maybe I'll take my measurements

and see where I'm at. I know I've already gone down a pant size +

and things up top are fitting much better so I'll be happy! (or at

least I'll try!)

Thanks Robynn!

2 pounds. Do not fret. Think of it as 8 sticks of butter. now

that is NICE!

Unfortunately, some of the surgeons don't BELIEVE in plateaus. They

think that if your weight loss stalls for a while, you're doing

something wrong! Right ?

ARGH! Don't get me started!

Actually Tina, I am not surprised. I kind of expected it when you told me

that you were feeling tired the other day. Your body is adjusting, that's

all. When I was about five or six weeks out, I hit a plateau for sixteen

days, and I wasn't doing anything different either. This too shall pass

and you will start losingn at the rate you expect again. LaWanda At 08:08
