Guest guest
FWIW, it definitely sounds like a GI sort of thing. Could be an ulcer, acid reflux, etc. If I were you, I'd keep track of your meals a while and when it occurs. That may offer some insight. Case in point, a number of years ago, I worked third shift. Just before work, nearly every night, I would have a tall glass of milk and around 8 oreos or chocolate chip cookies. It was part of my thing and back then I could get away with it (NOTHING put pounds on me). Then one night, out of the clear blue, I found myself curled up on the bench in severe abdominal pain for several hours. It subsided so I figured I'd just eaten something that disagreed with me at dinner. That is, until it repeated the next night when I had my evening snack. Turns out, I was lactose intolerant and it just hit me out of nowhere. To be certain, I tested it a bit of the next several weeks and sure enough, it was pretty consistent. I've since found I can eat certain types of dairy with little to no difficulty and if I eat a great deal of dairy over a period of time (say a few weeks) it catches up to me and I have to go totally off dairy for a while. Similarly, I've found that if I eat a great deal of starchy foods I get heartburn in the worst way. It didn't happen with whole grain starches for a while, but even then it can happen depending on a variety of conditions. Funny how that works out, eh? Guest guest
I don't have any antiacids in the house but I'm going to hit the drug store just prior to picking up from son from school this afternoon. I also ahve not had a physical in 2 years so I've called my internist for an appointment too. Have you tried any kind of anti- acids? If so, did they help? If not, have you considered trying them? I was thinking heartburn too. Have you experimented with your breakfast meal and made small changes to it to isolate what food might be causing this pain? I'd give that a try too. If the pain continues, I'd sure see a doctor. It could be something like GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease) and not require any surgery, like the hiatal hernia. Let us know what you find out is causing your pain. Take care.
