Guest guest
My son just went through a horrible spell of constipation a few weeks ago where he was screaming every 10 minutes to get something the size of a peanut out.....It was heartbreaking, he is such a healthy, happy, good-natured kid and I've never in his life seen him so terribly upset (he's 28months). At first we tried watching his diet. Eliminate cheese, milk products (not bm), bananas and such as mentioned earlier. Try mixing the prune juice with apple juice, he drank that well. Also offer grapes, apples, raisins, popcorn if she does well with that. Also I've read that most of the "p"s are good--pear juice, prune juice, whatever.....It got so bad for Drake that we even had to dilute down citrucel fiber drink for him and nothing was helping. We were also using all the chiropractic tricks we knew but he was still miserable. Finally my husband said we! should try the suppository, otherwise we'd end up with him in the hospital. We did it, and let me tell you, if I NEVER have to do all that again it'll be toooooo soon. I was bawling so hard I couldn't even breathe or see. He was ok about getting it in (it was just a bulb sort of syringe thing that you inserted and squeezed) but he kept saying/screaming "mommy, you're hurting me!!" And then the next 20 minutes that followed had to be sheer torture for him(I know it was for me!). He literally stood in front of me as I sat on the floor, clenched to me and screaming and shaking as if we were pulling out his toenails. Apparently the stuff wasn't in there long enough to soften the BM and this poor little guy had to expel something so large and hard that it had to just hurt so bad. I felt soooo terrible but glad that we'd gotten it out (he hadn't gone for 5days, usually goes at least once a day! ). He only had one more spell like that later that evening but for the next several days he would still stand, hold onto me and scream as he was doing it. We figured he was a)scared to death to go anymore and b)probably had some tearing with the first one that did make it painful. So, I'm gonna say, try, try, try to avoid those suppositories but if you have to do it, be prepared!! My poor little guy is still not back to normal and just today had another episode where he tells me poopoo hurts in his 'bumper' and cries a bit while he's doing his job. It's awful and I hope your little one gets better soon! Fawn Drake 28months edd 03-05-
Guest guest
Sometimes I do. I usually don't remember passing out, but I remember the time lapses. Guest guest
I pass out alot. I don't know if it is from the pain or my blood sugar. When I had my attack last month where my amylase hit 2512 the hour ride to the hospital didn't seem so long b/c I passed out numerous times on the way there so I'm assuming it is the pain. Guest guest
Acute physical stress from any source can drop the BP. Another reason to always be well hydrated as that condition tends to stabilize the BP. Dehydration on the other hand can make the BP a fragile thing. BTW when the BP goes south many other bad things can easily just happen. Best Wishes, Poncho - GA
Guest guest
I wonder if you could pass out during an attack because your BP drops. One of the symptoms of an acute attack is low BP. W

Since then her BP has dropped whilst having attacks in hospital. I can only assume that it IS possible to pass out during an attack. Hypotension alone is distressing and one of the symptoms is fainting. God bless Chris
Guest guest
If your blood pressure drops low enough, you could pass out. I never have, not have I heard of someone passing out from low blood pressure during an attack. My BP is always quite high when I get to the ER. The ER people are always worrying that I will have a stroke when I show up. Jerry ********************** Re: Re: Question?? > I wonder if you could pass out during an attack because your BP drops. Guest guest
I know after having my first acute attack I looked up symptoms and it seems I had a textbook case. If I remember correctly it said the symptoms of an acute attack were severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, breaking out in a cold sweat, and low BP. Passing out when your BP drops is a pretty common event. My stepdaughter has orthostatic hypotension (bp drops when she stands up) and passes out on a regular basis. There have been times when I've had the horrendous pain and my BP is sky high. Other times, it drops pretty low. Guess it just depends whats going on at the time.
