Try these:

1) Social stories;

2) Premack;

3) Schedule (visual).

Does she read a written schedule or can she follow a picture schedule? sometimes it helps kids just to have knowledge ahead of time- to have as much of an organized list of activities as possible, so they will know what comes next. also, using a timer is often helpful, so she will know that in 5 minutes, we will be going home...or whatever. If they have already tried all this, then sorry! hope it helps.

Marisa is in a PPI class in Royal Oak and the thing that drives her nuts is transitions and I don't know what ideas to give the teachers. She is very happy to go to school, she is verbal but when they tell her to do something and she doesn't want to she screams. I have a follow up with Dr. Solomon on the 16th but if anyone has an idea really would appreciate it.Thanks - Marisa's momSupport Everyday Miracles by shopping online at IGIVE.COM, where a portion of every purchase is donated to this support network. Social stories help to anticipate change and reduce stress:

The Premack Principle uses positive experiences as a motivation to tolerate a

less-desirable one (usually used in a visual schedule):

A visual schedule helps to reduce stress by allowing the individual to

anticipate upcoming changes & events.
