When I was a kid growing up my mom made a dish called " Glop " . Then Hamburger

Helper came out and my mom said that if she had figured out how to package

Glop she would have made millions! LOL!!

Here's the recipe for Glop. It is my family's comfort food. I haven't

figured out how to make it SBD-compliant because of the cream of mushroom

soup used to thicken it.

1 pound hamburger

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 can each of green beans, corn and peas *OR*

whatever leftover vegetables you have from the night before

Salt and pepper to taste

Garlic and onions as you desire

Cooked rice

Cook the hamburger in a skillet. Drain the grease. Stir in the rest of the

stuff and simmer to blend the flavors. Serve over rice.

....here's one from a copycat site I had bookmarked from ages ago.

My assumption is that the dry milk thickens the sauce. Haven't tried it though.

I imagine you could use regular milk, reduce the water in the recipe and thicken

it with a little cornstarch or arrowroot if it's too thin. You're allowed to

use the powdered stuff, but I have an aversion to it since I was forced to drink

it as a child. Anyway, good luck on your hamburger helper experiment!

Betsy Hall,

A tad disappointing....

Well, I'm trying to reinvent Hamburger Helper here and I'm having limited

luck.
