Hi Lee

Oooooo yours is getting so much closer too. I'll have

to come down and visit you if you like :)

This time in 3 weeks, I will hopefully be asleep

enjoying the effects of the anaesthetic.

Jill;

Just to let you know, the other replies you received aren't the only

possibilities. I had a colon resection done via the laparoscope and

I had absolutely no problems from the surgery. No infection, no

bleeding; and everything worked after two days.

Yes, it was cancer. Yes, I have been taking chemo; but I have also

been working all of the time. I have gotten my health back. I had

colon cancer spread to my lungs and that was nasty; but now I am

doing great.

In fact, I just returned from a week in the Yucatan in Mexico with

my daughter.

This is not the end of life as you know it. It's just another

challenge that you can meet easily. Stay positive, and don't be

afraid. The process is not that bad. In some respects, it's been

fun. I've met some of the nicest people I have ever known through

this journey.

God bless, and stay strong.

Thank you all for your reassuring replies. I've been doing lots of

research and found that our gastroenterologist/surgeon is the only

one in our area that is ASCRS (Association of Colon and Rectal

Surgeons)certified so that makes me feel better. I'm just hoping

that everything has been caught early and there is no lymph node

involvement.

I've got a list of questions to ask the surgeon at our next

appointment. My husband just doesn't like to talk about this

stuff. He almost passed out in the doctor's office on Monday when

the doctor was describing the surgery to him. I guess it's up to me

to be the go-between here.

Thanks again. We WILL get through this.

Hi Jill...

Welcome to our " family " ...you WILL get through this and you will be the

strong, caring loving caregiver...and yes, you will be Hubby's ears. I've

found

that Glenn has either very selective hearing at the drs. visits or is in

another world and just doesn't " catch " it all. I write everything down I think

I

need while the dr. is talking. And he's kind enough to slow down and wait

for me to write. I always have quetions, some he can answer, some he cant.

Don't forget in all the hubbub to continue to take care of Jill, also!!!

We'll be here for you Jill, for you to talk to, with and at. That's might be

the biggest reason next to being scared shitless (ooops!) that most of us seek

a support group. We need to talk, vent, cry, scream without being

judged...and we also need to joke and laugh. We do it all here, so I'm glad

you found

us....we need you, too!!!

Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle

Caregiver to Glenn

Life's short. Don't sweat it. ICBINB is perfectly fine in small amounts - I

use the spray. I think Stonyfields makes a plain yogurt...

Well, ICBINB is allowed on the diet so that's not a problem. As for the

yogurt, there's plain yogurt in the same place as the regular yogurt. If

you can't find it, just ask someone at the store. Unless it's a mom-pop

grocery store, they'll have it.

Now, for being scared...huh?! That's silly -- everyone makes mistakes, it's

part of the learning process.

Go forth and sin no more. ;)

The margarine is okay. Was the yogurt the sugar free kind that is

artificially sweetened? If so, I wouldn't worry too much. If it had

sugar, that would be a problem.

Sweetie,

Don't be so hard on yourself. This is a very forgiving way of eating. If

you think you have messed up, start again where you are. Don't wait for

tomorrow, but start again with your next snack or meal.

You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it.

Sounds like it shouldn't be much of a problem. I ate artificially

sweetened vanilla yogurt on phase 1. The fruit shouldn't be in there

on phase 1, tho. But, it probably isn't a big deal if it's sugar free.

This diet is so forgiving of screwing up, just get back on the wagon

and you're golden the next day. I've cheated from time to time on

purpose just because I don't want to deny myself the better things in

life, I just have a taste or two, no biggie. I'm down 28.6 pounds as

of last monday's weigh in.
