Anyone ever ridden a train long distance before? I looked it up on www.amtrak.com and I can get from Houston to New York and back in 2 days each way for less than 400.00! Is that right? What's the catch? How is it riding on a train? I am scared to fly and yes I know the whole YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD THAN IN THE AIR thing but I'm still scared to fly and it's not because of terrorists. In a car you don't know the crash is going to happen and BAM you crash. In a plane most of the time you have time to know I'M GONNA CRASH, I'M GONNA CRASH, I'M GONNA DIE! That's not for me! LOL! I don't want to crash! Anyway.....I am scared to fly and would LOVE to visit New York and I would love to travel by train. That would be fun! A long ride yes but fun. I want to hear

A very long time ago I took a train from Kansas to Wyoming, and then from one Kansas town to one across the state. I've done a small plane from Midland to Minot, North Dakota as well as a couple of times on commercial flights. All of it is interesting and beautiful. The flight from Seattle back to Midland was breathe taking. We got on at Midnight and landed in Dallas before 6 AM. There was a full moon, looked as though one could reach out and touch it, as did the stars. The towns below with the lights shining up were great. Gets you in touch with the Almighty when you are up there so high!!!!! The trip on a plane is beautiful in the day time but even more at night. When you fly above a thunder storm at night the lightening show is fabulous Come on you haven't lived tell you have taken either a train ride or a plane trip. I was impressed with both my train rides as well as my plane trips. Its a lot scarer to me to ride down a highway or here in town in a car!!!!!!!!!

LOL Janet! Nope......that didn't make me worry. My mom said she's scared to go on a train too! I am

scared to fly but not worried about a train. I have wanted to go on a train ride ever since I saw Harry

Potter! :) They always ride a train to Hogwarts at the beginning and it looks like fun. Of course there will

be no magic and no wizards on my train....I hope! :) I would also like to go on a cruise. Mom...are you

scared of boats? LOL! No icebergs near us right??? :)

, my dad use to work for the Santa Fe and we traveled by train all the time. Went from Amarillo to Sanfrancisco Cal for Graduation, took two days and nights had a berth to sleep in and it was fun had a dinner car and a dome car where you could sit up high and see all around. Now the trains go a lot faster and I don't know about the dinner or the dome car think it would still be fun. Hope you get to go. Would love to see New York some day. Love Buzz! Buzz! My friend graduates in May and his mom is taking him to New York and she wanted to see if I could go. I would love to but they are flying and I'm a wimp and don't want to fly so I guess I will pass. Probably couldn't afford it by May anyways. But my friend IS willing to take a train trip with me to New York to check it out one of these days. I would do that! That might be fun. I'll have to find a TOPS member who lives in New York that I could stay with to save hotel

cost! LOL! You know someone would take a fellow TOPS member in! :) Or I could take the train to Connecticut and get one of my relatives to take me and my friend to New York. Think Aunt Gladys would do that mom?
