LOL. Jackie, you know that you can rant and rave to me anytime. I needed to blow off steam, too. I'm glad that the powerlifting meet finished up in time for us to get a walk in. I was wound a bit too tight after sitting at the score table with coaches and sweaty lifters hanging over my shoulder all day. was working on the same lift platform as me today, and she had to tell me to 'calm down, Mom' at least twice. Once when someone put the scorecards out of order when I was on lunchbreak, and another time when 3 coaches were trying to change the weights that their lifters were going to do, all at the same time. Wouldn't have been so bad, but everything has to move at a fast pace. Oh yeah, and when people kept getting in my way of the scoring lights after a lift. I can't record a lift if I can't see if the judges put up green or red lights. Oh well, this is the last year that I'll be doing it... and as always, I got a free t-shirt, lunch, and a personal servant all day, who was constantly checking to see if I needed water, new transparency markers, or sharpened pencils. What more can one ask for? LOL! I felt better after our walk... until I read the front page of the Lampasas paper, while I sat at Subway. Ya know, all I wanted to do was to unwind this evening, but no. I have to read about some jerk who just bought 30 acres on the corner and is now putting in a subdivision! What the %*#@! Who puts a subdivision in an agricultural-zoned area way out in the country??!!! Besides, that 30 acre tract is part of the same tract as our's, complete with lots of restrictions, to include 'no commercial activities, other than agriculture'. Uhhh, excuse me, but isn't real estate development a commercial activity?? Oh, yeah, and how does one build 9 houses on 30 acres and not go against the 'no structures within 200 feet of any property lines' restriction? I'm raging. In the 25 minutes that it takes me to drive from town to home, I'd already talked to 3 neighbors and my dad. Spent another hour + on the phone with another neighbor, who's property adjoins the 'new proposed subdivision'. She had no idea. So, now on Monday, we have to go to the office of the lawyer who sold us the property, right after we go to the courthouse and make copies of the actual deed restrictions on file. The subdivision developer, according to the newspaper, will be meeting with the county judge. Well, you can betcha that we will be, too. I really don't have time for this, but there is already one house pad on the land and they've got some serious earth-moving equipment parked there. They'll have roads and a couple of houses in place by the time that I get back from SRD. I'm sure that it probably wouldn't be a big deal to some, BUT there are 4 families out here, all retired military, who bought 30 - 40 acre 'hobby farms' to get away from living in town. All my life, I've lived in military quarters, which were basically apartment complexes, duplexes, and four-plexes. We just wanted to move out where it was quiet, without neighbors within earshot. And now this. :-( All through venting now. hugs, janet
