Ironically, I am in a genetic study & was just called about some "more in depth info being needed concerning my pregnancy". Carson had a twin & I lost his sibling in the first trimester. After the long questionaires & numerous phone calls over the past 12-18 months, I was fairly sure there WAS NOT a question that I had left unanswered. WRONG! This time I was asked about whether they shared a sac or had separate sacs (they were separate). Just thought it was funny that we were revisiting this topic as the University called with more questions...on the very same subject!

Lynn, could you let me know if anything comes of that question. Just my own

curiosity, because I lost a twin in the first trimester (separate sac also)

Not with Brayden but my second pregnancy, could it have happen again earlier?

Yes, I will definitely let you know what happens with the study. I just can not guesstimate when it will conclude:-)) They have told me it has already been extended twice...for a year each time. I wonder what size pool they have now?

Another thing I found interesting was that my husband had a failed twin & his sister has a son who had a failed twin. I also had an another pregnancy that was an ovarian pregnancy...no, not tubal...ovarian. It actually ruptured my ovary.

I've heard this is very common. The loss of the failed twin is so early for

some woman they do not even realize.

After searching through everything about my pregnancy that may have

contributed to Lily's microtia I felt that the fact that I got pregnant as

soon as I stopped using birth control pills might have been a factor. I did

not have a period after going off the pill. I just got pregnant. I know the

medical profession advises that you wait three months after you stop using

the pill to get pregnant. I don't know why they feel this way. I think my

hormones just weren't where they needed to be. My obstetrician assured me

that it didn't matter when I asked while I was pregnant. I never discussed

it with him after Lily's birth.

Either way, I don't feel guilty anymore. At all. I think God has a plan.

And we're all blessed in so many ways. It's a half empty, half full kind of

a thing. You probably will agree that the microtia itself has been a

blessing. It makes you see the world in a whole different, better way. And

we have so may options for our babies.

Still, it would be nice to be able to figure it out and help others.

Thanks for the hugs Autumn, they came at a time when I needed them. And it helps to know that so many have experienced the same feelings I'm dealing with now and I have a great group to share my feelings with.
