Guest guest
Hi Janet, I looked into having this procedure done out-of-country, the main reason, it's not done here in the states. But the price was considerably higher, anywhere from $3000-$8000. It was much more cost effective to go to Mexico, the airfare is cheaper and so is the surgery. The American dollar goes a long way down there. I live on the West Coast so it might be cheaper for someone that's on the Eastern seaboard. Anyway, I should be on my way in a couple of weeks, I can hardly wait!!! Hey Helen, way to go, congrats on the milestone!!!! Take care everybody!!! T. p.s. I've been pretty silent this past week or so, cause my PC is horribly broken. I installed a piece of new hardware and it completely fried my hard drive. Ugh....having to rebuild 3+ years of system stuff is the pitts!!!
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Yesterday, I posed this question, but I don't think any of you received it because it wasn't in my mailbox. But, what I would like to know is, if anyone has children in the preschool AI programs in either Birmingham or Clawson, and if so what's your opinion of them. I am going to have my daughter placed in one of those, so your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Angie
Guest guest
Angie, I cannot attest to the programming in those districts but I do know a teacher that works in Birmingham in an AI catagorical classroom I believe. The teacher is Liz Preibe and she has been very active in assisting parents and educating educators about autism. I saw her also at attending the National ASA conference in Pittsburgh. She is one of those teachers that is always educating herself on what is new within the educational environment as well. Liz is also the parent of two sons with ASD on different areas of the spectrum so to hear her speak is very enlightening. She is a wonderful resource too of information and I have attended a couple of her parent training sessions. Perhaps EDM could bring her in for their Friends and Family Day. She'd be a great asset as an educator and a parent. Just a suggestion but I think Liz is great. I also think that she has done some training with the LMB folks so perhaps she could offer advice on that as well. Gotta run, Carolyn > Hi Everyone, > Yesterday, I posed this question, but I don't think any of you > received it because it wasn't in my mailbox.
