Guest guest
For those of you using DTI/ABA/AVA, whatever name you use, I ran across a really fabulous group that posts only about therapies and ways to teach particular tasks to children with autism. They are strict in what postings they allow. Here is their Introduction, and below it is their site if you would like to join. I would also recommend that you invite your ABA trainers, teaches, etc. to join the message board. You might not post, but the postings that the behaviorists write are very interesting. It is a good place to post your Help Wanted messages. I love to read their daily digest, it always has great ideas for teaching: One of the most complex tasks both parents and professionals face is developing and implementing an effective language intervention for children with autism. Parents and professionals are finding that BOTH Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET), together with the help of Skinner's (1957) Functional Analysis of Verbal Behavior to be very effective for children with autism. This is commonly referred to as Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB)which is a specialty within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). It is a place where parents and professionals running home (and school) programs can discuss concerns and share their knowledge of this type of teaching. Other issues relating to autism will not be addressed on this list. (DTT-NET is not a methodology within itself. DTT-NET is an acronym used to describe this listgroup.)All posts are read and approved prior to posting by the list moderators. Rhonda Miga, founding member. As of Jan 2001, this list is owned and moderated by Jenn Godwin, BCaBA and Steph Hulshof, BCaBA http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DTT-NET or send an email to subscribe to: DTT-NET-subscribe Lynn -- dean “We are the great grassroots campaign of the modern era, made of mouse pads, shoe leather, and hope.” —Governor Dean, M.D.
