Guest guest
My question is you trust Dr. A to write a book and follow what is inside that book but you don't trust him to endorse a product? How can you trust him at all? No one says that you have eat ALL the endorsed products every day but they are within SB limits. I just don't understand your thinking. It's like you want to pick and choose which it is you want to believe. What would you recommend eating being that I am Vegetarian? Any suggestions? kimberly __________________________________________________

It's like you > want to pick and choose which it is you want to > believe. I do not place faith in the man but rather the system. Agatston did not write this book alone. True, his is the name on the cover, but he consulted nutritionists and it was read, re-read, and read again by many before it ever hit the shelves. In fact, I have limited respect for Agatston as a cardiologist; as a heart patient, I would not have this man as my cardiologist. He has also said things that I do not consider nutritionally sound. The basic concepts of the diet, things like eating whole grains and avoiding certain foods, are sound nutrition. Do I agree with everything in the book? Of course not. There are several things that I think are totally off, such as the banishment of corn and potatoes until P3. However, these things do not make the plan any less sound. When the SBD foundation came up with product endorsements, I was thrilled. Finally, something quick I can prep on occasion just to get out of the kitchen a while! Then I read the ingredients and found it was no different than anything elsealready on the " diet foods " market, in some cases worse. The products directly contradicted the very base principles the diet was based around. It became clear at that point what was going on -- the food industry was making someone very wealthy. Ironcially enough, the book encourages us to learn the system and think for ourselves. If you do that, you quickly see that many of these products simply are not in line with the system. > What would you recommend eating being that I > am Vegetarian? Any suggestions? I do not have the time to post to this at the moment but I will when I get back in later.
Guest guest
Ok, I am new to SBD (2 weeks now), but my honest opinion is that you need to know what is and is not allowed in the phase you are in and check these products to see if the ingredients are compliant with that phase. That kind of sums it up for me. I think he wrote a fantastic book with a lot of great, useful information that really works for people seeking to improve their health and/or lose weight. However, I do think he was seduced by the big bucks that come along with any commerically endorsed product. Regardless of what expert you're listening to, you can't have blind faith. A lot of the stuff that is being endorsed by Dr. A. today is a direct conflict to principles he set forth in his original book. Now, are you wrong for eating those foods if you are following SBD? No. Is every new food carrying the SBD logo a conflict? No. But should you question if certain foods and food products are really in line with your goals for living a healthier lifestyle and losing weight, even if it carries the SBD logo? Absolutely. Guest guest
But it's because it raises your blood sugar making you want to eat more and more. Guest guest
I'm wondering as well. To me, corn (in kernel form) would seem to be OK. Why? Well, how should I put it.... I guess it seems to come out pretty much looking how it looked when it went in ;-) In any event, I eat corn only twice a year - at Thanksgiving dinner and again off the cob one time during the sweet cord season. The potatoes? I don't know why. I'll eat potato salad one time during the summer. Anyway, I look forward to ' comments about it.
