Guest guest
Kim, I'm not sure what the answer to your question is but could you share the recipe? I've been looking for one that uses a ham steak instead of the ham bone and haven't had any luck. Shelli Question about split peas > If I am not mistaken and please correct me if I am, I saw that split > peas are allowed in P1. If this is true I am thinking of making a pea > soup. I have a recipe that uses a ham steak instead of ham bone. No > carrots or potatoes. Is this ok for me now? > Kim/VT >
Guest guest
We can have peas/split peas on phase 2, not phase 1. Same with carrots. Ham is one of those " personal choice " type items. It's kind of high in fat, and very high in sodium. But, once you are on phase 2, if you want to try it, just be sure to watch the scale to see if the sodium from the ham make you retain water weight. It's not something I would have on a regular basis, tho. ann > > If I am not mistaken and please correct me if I am, I saw that split > peas are allowed in P1. Guest guest
Here's a split pea soup that's really really good. I personally like it because it has no ham in it at all (I don't particularly care for salty ham). But give it a try. If you can't live without that smoky flavor, you can add some smoke flavoring (you get it in a bottle in the spice section) to it. I like a cup of this for a snack in P2. Yummy! I don't make it very often, but when I do, I have to hide it or my husband and kids eat it all. http://soup.allrecipes.com/az/BstvrSplitP.asp Betsy Hall, Re: Question about split peas We can have peas/split peas on phase 2, not phase 1.
