Guest guest
From Sally Salconway@... Hi everyone, It has been great reading the E-mail from everybody. It is great to know that I am not alone in this quest for weight loss. Thankyou to Lois who welcomed me into the group, made me feel very special. I have my first visit to the dietician tomorrow, will be great to get an idea of the types of food that I will be able to gradually eat. I have to say after nearly four weeks of fluids, anything with a bit of solid mass to it will be an improvement. I go to see my doctor in early June to have my first fill. Can anyone tell me does it hurt having the needle inserted to inject the fluid. I have to admit I am a little nervous about that as I am a real wimp when it comes to injections. I have lost only about 7kgs since the operation three and a half weeks ago. I must admit though that I have not been having all low fat fluids. Some of the group have been talking about a powder called Complan. I have heard of it but I don't know if it is available in Melbourne, Australia. Can anyone help me with this? I have been using a high protein drink called Sustagen which when mixed with skim milk gives a nice drink that is very palatible. Once again thakyou for the information. Guest guest
Hi Sally Well done on your weight loss so far, 7 kgs sounds good to me. I get my surgery in one week's time (nervous, nervous, nervous!) I plan to stick religously to the liquid diet, and I have bought a blender, loads of smooth soups, Complan, protein powder, even all the meds that I take I have ordered in liquid format! Complan is available in UK, it is a milk based complete liquid meal designed for people who are convalescing. It is reasonably low in calories and comes in loads of flavours both sweet and savoury. I have bought some but I know there are some people on the list who do not like it at all. I figure if I am hungry I will eat it ... we'll see. Sounds to me, the Sustagen stuff is probably similar. Keep up the good work. Love Janet At 09:36 26/04/99 +1000, you wrote: > From Sally Salconway@... Hi everyone, It has been great >reading the E-mail from everybody. Guest guest
From Lois Jervis loislane@... Hi everyone, Sharon, I found the liquid phase very hard and was very glad that I was only on it for 2 weeks. I mainly drank my milk-based protein drinks, vegetable juice, fruit juice, liquid vitamins and water. By the end of the second week I was ready for anything, LOL. I then went on to the pureed stage, soups etc, anything that would go in a blender. Each phase only lasted 2 weeks which is what my doctor recommended, each doctor and country is different. Jessie, I too have keloid scarring where my port is, the other incisions are normal. It's really weird as I had a caesarian section years ago and it was normal, then I had a skin cancer removed on my arm and I had the thickening scar grow, then I had it cut again and now it is 3 times as long and it is thicker than ever. Denny, I was told that I could drink 30 minutes after eating. After I came home and started the puree stage, I felt like I was eating and drinking all day, I couldn't find my rhythm. Good luck with your surgery. Sally, there is someone who was on our list named Martie who lives in Melbourne. I hope she contacts you, if she doesn't email me privately and I will pass on her email address. She could probably do with the support. Welcome , I hope you find the information you are looking for. Guest guest
Dear Ronke, > I'd be happy to call you in Lyon to see how you're doing, and also to > see whether I can help with some French. I already have your home phone number (did I send you mine?)....which you were good enough to send to me when I was looking for somebody to take part in a three way call to Dr Frering....I'll be staying in the Orion Residence in Lyon...I'm not sure yet of the phone number (Janet and Zola stayed there) but I'll post it just before I leave on 20.6.99...I've already learned how to say....I am in extreme pain in French!
