Guest guest
Hi Janet Well, I'm starting to get nervous....two weeks from today and I'm away...remind me, were the hospital happy to take travellers cheques in payment for the operation. How far is the Hotel Orion from the hospital and did you travel back and forth using a taxi or did you venture on the Metro? Ronke
Guest guest
Hi Barbara I'll be keeping a diary...the whole experience of going to France for this operation as a non-French speaking person might be of interest to any future members of this list who decide to take this route (although thankfully Janet and Zola have paved the way!). The added excitement, or terror, depending on how you look at it is that I shall now be travelling alone...something I hate doing even at the best of times....mind you, I've being doing my research on Lyon and it really is an exciting dynamic city. I intend to spend the two days that I have prior to be admitted into hospital, site seeing and eating! Guest guest
Hi Janet I did get the train ticket from Lille sorted. It came to £80 + £5.00 booking fee...the salesman, in smug tones, advised me to cancel the Airmiles + £30 booking because he was of the opinion that the total cost of buying the tickets separately would be more than the cost of getting a combined ticket from Eurostar...but as it turns out I made a saving of £39....not too bad....However, next time I'll take the plane! Thanks for the info below...it's helpful that you've done the trip already and so can give such invaluable advice. Guest guest
Hi Chani my server was playing up yesterday so I'm finally getting round to my email.... thanks for wishing me good luck....Paris is loads nearer than Lyon so at least you won't have loads of travel (mind you...you probably live in the US so ignore that last sentence). I'm really excited about going and my French is improving leaps and bounds!
