Guest guest
It probably won't cause a problem at all, especially if it hasn't already. Food is *generally* digested in about 4 hours, so if it's the next day and he's fine, you're in the clear! Btw, the only thing that ever bothered my little nursling was milk and coffee. (I could eat dairy products like cheese and yogurt, just not milk.) I could eat tons of spicy food and Jake was fine. I've heard of babies being very sensitive to what their mothes eat, but I've also heard that it's impossible for the food you eat to enter your milk. I don't quite believe either theory. But I really do think your baby is safe from your Mexican food by now. -- Gaunt - Logan Wolf due May 9, 2001 Babies come into the world with perfect love and perfect trust. Guest guest
From Jack Newman's breastfeeding Myths: " A breastfeeding mother has to be obsessive about what she eats. Not true! A breastfeeding mother should try to eat a balanced diet, but neither needs to eat any special foods nor avoid certain foods. A breastfeeding mother does not need to drink milk in order to make milk. A breastfeeding mother does not need to avoid spicy foods, garlic, cabbage or alcohol. A breastfeeding mother should eat a normal healthful diet. Although there are situations when something the mother eats may affect the baby, this is unusual. Most commonly, " colic " , " gassiness " and crying can be improved by changing breastfeeding techniques, rather than changing the mother's diet. (Handout #2 Colic in the breastfed baby).
