Guest guest
I'm going to relate a story of what happened to me last night which was very frightening at the time. I was just calmly watching TV 'Friends' in fact when I felt a numbing in my legs, then a tingling sensation, then I was having trouble breathing. At this point I picked up the phone and dialled '999' for an ambulance- my natural instinct. While on the phone I felt as if electricity was going through me like I was being electrocuted and as if I would collapse at any moment- my heart was racing - I was so frightened I screamed. The voice on the other end kept telling me to be calm. Then my neighbours appeared and within seconds the ambulance arrived. It felt as if I couldn't breathe- and the ambulance man talked to me in a calm voice getting me to slow my breathing right down. So luckily it turned out to be hyperventilation but it was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Obviously surgery is a very physically and phychologically draining experience. I would highly recommend that any of you having a myo who live alone to have a relative or friend to stay with you for about 2 weeks post-myo. I left my friends house a bit too soon and although I'm having friends drop by every day- the evenings are the worst time.
