Guest guest
Hi everybody: I had my 1st apt. with Dr. Glassner in Bryn Mawr yesterday. He is as good as everybody said he was on this group website. I was diagnosed with 2 fibroids by my HMO doctor ( submucosal and 1 subserosal). He wanted to do a hysterectomy and I refused. My HMO doctor also told me there was no way he coudl tell how far embedded by submucosal fibroid was in the uterine wall. Well, Dr. Glassner diagnosed me with 4 fibroids. 2 are intra-cavity (not submucosal as my HMO doctor said) and are 2 cm in size. 1 of them is 80% in the uterine cavity and the other is 50% in the uterine cavity. therfore, per Dr. Glassner I am a good candidate for a hysteroscopic resection. I have 1 intramural which will require not treatment at all and the other one is subserosal - 5 cm in size and is pressing into my uterine cavity. Well, it appears there is indeed a test (ultrasound done by an excellent technician who works for an excellent physician-Dr. Glassner) that can tell how far embedded a submucosal fibroid is in the uterine wall. It also appears that I was mis-diagnosed somewhat by my HMO doctors who just wanted to remove the organ! Unbelievable! Managed health care (HMO's) are not the best physicians and it is so true that women with fibroids need to seek out doctors who are the best in their field. I am now working on financing the resection operation and will be a self-pay patient. This organ is so important that for me, it is worth the effort to pay for this on my own, regardless of my stinky HMO insurance who misdiagnosed me and wanted to just " do a vaginal hysterectomy. " UMBELIEVABLE! Dr. Glassner is excellent and made me feel at ease about the hysteroscopic resection. Jeanne
