One question I have is should my OB have found this sooner during a pelvic exam? ******** Jodie, when you ask shouldn't your OB have found out sooner that your fibroid was blocking your fallopian tubes...how long were you trying to conceive before your OB referred you for an HSG? I believe that an doctor really can't tell exactly where a fibroid is in the uterus from a manual exam, and even an ultrasound is reducing a 3-dimensional object to a 2-dimensional film so it probably would not show clearly that the fibroid is blocking both fallopian tubes. If the HSG clearly shows that your fibroid is blocking your fallopian tubes, I would think that the best course is to remove the fibroid. If the sperm can't get up the fallopian tubes, and the fertilized egg get down them, you're not going to have a pregnancy. I wouldn't bother waiting any further at this point -- this test result sounds definitive. A myomectomy is probably your best bet to remove the fibroid. Many women become pregnant following a myomectomy. Best of luck to you. Leonie _________________________________________________________________ Click, drag and drop.
