Guest guest
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me more about how meet-ups are organised. I only just realised that the fibroid meet-ups are facilitated by another website that specialises in co-ordinating meet-ups for a diverse range of interest groups. First of all, in what ways do you find this website particularly useful; why not just use our Yahoo group to announce a proposed meet-up in a particular city and then ask anyone interested to e-mail the facilitator off-list? I suppose one (potential) facet for the uterine fibroids group is that women like myself who have decided to stop receiving mail from the Yahoo group might continue to stay on the meet-up mailing list because it wouldn't entail receiving a huge number of messages. That leads me to another question, what sort of messages do members receive from meet-up and are they notified about proposed meetings at venues other than those for which they are registered? Is there any way to find out how many members are signed up for a particular area; for instance if I am in the origami group for Chicago, can I find out how many others are in it, and also how many are registered in Detroit? What I saw at the site was a date given for a meeting and then I had to click on the country of my choice and then choose a city in that country. In Ireland the only choice was Dublin, I clicked and got a message that there would not be a fibroids meeting in Dublin this Saturday. Then I had to click a different country, the UK, to find that Belfast in N Ireland is listed but again no meeting is being held. I didn't see a way to find out where in the world meetings ARE being held, other than by clicking on each named country and city in turn. But perhaps meet-up members are sent a list? As I said, I don't receive group postings. So if you can better explain to me the workings of " meet-up " feel free to send me a copy of your letter off-list. Thanks.
