Hi there - Last year I was in exactly your shoes. I had one intramural 'roid that measured 5x6x6cm in the fundus, a smaller 3cm intramural and a cluster of seedling sized fibroids lower in the muscle wall. My DH and I decided it was baby-makin' time and proceeded to get opinions about what we should do to " redecorate " the womb . . . Like you I had several options (although not the laproscopic one . . . ) but ultimately needed to make the decision about whether to treat the roids (which at that time were causing very minimal symptoms), or to go ahead and ttc knowing they may or may not impact the pregnancy process. This is NOT an easy decision and I believe it is entirely personal and that there is not one global " right answer " . The most important thing to do is exactly what you are doing . . . educatng yourself to the various possibilities, identifying the risks of esch scenario, and then with your partner, making a decision that is most comfortable for you!!! For me, that decision was to ttc for six months without touching the invaders, and if we were unsuccessful, then to reconsider treatment options. Within two months of trying, we were pregnant --- with twins! ( no fertility aids required ! ) As for the pregnancy: - Monster fibroid grew to over 10x14cm (remember, I was carrying twins and they were girls --- mega-hormones!)My smaller one grew to about 5cm and they cluster went relatively unchanged (To answer your question : Yes, I was HUMONGOUS!) - I had breakthrough bleeding starting at 10 weeks and lasting through the first trimester. - I had a classical (vertical) c-section - planned - and this was primarily because of the twin factor. Baby A was not impacted by the monster, but Baby B was snuggled right up under it and she would have been too hard to birth with a bikini cut. - They did perform a myo on the small one to ease Baby A's birth as well. - I did lose quite a bit of blood; 2100cc's during the c-sect. I lost an additional 400cc's postpartum (in recovery) and ultimately had to have a blood transfusion (2 pints).-- Again, had twins, not sure if this was strickly fibroid related. - My uterus needed to be expressed manually and could not be massaged to contract due to the fibroids. This is not pleasant. - Three months postpartum; monster invader is now only slightly shrinking and I continue to bleed daily. I still look 5 months pg. I am now looking into surgical options, as I am entirely sick of wearing maternity clothes! Actually, my incision is taking very long to heal (nerve speaking), and I am fearing the potential anemia situation if this bleeding continues indefinitely. . . *** Ask me if I would have done it different knowing all of the above beforehand . . . absolutely not! I have two amazingly beautiful and healthy 3 monnth old girls; born at 35 weeks (only two weeks shy of full term for twins) and despite my new urgency to get rid of these nasty alien roids, they did not prohibit me from having a relatively run-of-the-mill twin pregnancy (if there is such a thing!!!) You are the best expert when it comes to your body and knowing your limits. If you've satisfied your information gathering palette, then all their is left to do is, take a nice deep breath, clear your mind of worry and " what if's? " and make yoursef a plan to make yourself a baby!!! Whatever you decide; be it surgery or ttc; you have found a great bunch of ladies that will be happy to cheer you on and lay to rest any concenrsw you have along the way! I am thinking peaceful decision making toughts for you as well as extra sticky baby wishes. All my best,
