New York City June 19 Meetup!

Dear LOL -- but especially those ladies who live in the vicinity of

New York City!

As you know by now, the NYC Meetup group surpassed the 30 count on

registration this past weekend. I'm making my plane reservation and

counting down the days to meet you all. But first, some meeting

logistics need to be ironed out.

None of the Meetup venues that have been coming up for NYC meetups are

appropriate for a group of 30-40 people. At all. Further, in calling

around to potential meetup venues in NYC that could indeed host 30+

people, it has become painfully apparent that no one really wants to

be " dropped in " on in numbers that large. Reservations are required,

along with a deposit towards a room/venue usage fee. We've hit a

small snag and I need YOUR input now.

The location that has been narrowed down (and already added to the NYC

venue list for this meeting) is:

However, reserving the meeting room at this location includes

food/beverage services, along with a deposit and headcount for final

food charges. The charges incurred are roughly $20/person. Although

I can (and will) seek out funders to underwrite this meetup, I need

your input on this charge for attending this meetup. Please send all

your comments directly to me at: cdionne @ earthlink.net (only

without the spaces before and after the @ sign). Is this an

appropriate charge? Will it hinder your attendance? Please send me

your HONEST comments so that I can plan accordingly regarding this

venue and finding last minute funding for this event.

Here is the info on the proposal I received today:

PARTY DATE: Sat, June 19th

PARTY TIME: 2-5 pm

PLACE: Back room of DT UT reserved and kept private

GUESTS: Approx 40 people

COST: $675 for the entire event. Tax and gratuity not included.

PAYMENT: A deposit of $150 is necessary to reserve the space. Balance

of payment is due at conclusion.

FOOD: Pizza, turnovers, quiche passed butler style as an hors

d'ouevre. Assorted Sandwiches served buffet style. Cheese Fondues

placed around the room for guests to help themselves.

BEVERAGES: Unlimited drip coffee, tea, juice, soda.

DESSERT: S'mores, chocolate and caramel fondues. Platter of Rice

Krispie Treats and Brownies

SERVICE: 2 Waitpeople exclusively for this function

GUARANTY: A final count of guests is required 48 hours prior to the

party.
