Hi ,

I'm sorry your birth plans were altered so drastically and that you

feel robbed. My birth plan for my dd (regular hospital delivery

WITH an epidural) was altered as well because of my fibroid. I

ended up having an emergency c/section under general anesthesia. My

daughter was born a month early and had difficulty breathing as her

lungs weren't yet mature, so she was taken immediately to the NICU.

My husband and parents were able to see her about 1 hour after she

was born but I was not able to see her until the next day. And, I

was not able to hold her or breastfeed her until she was almost a

day old. She came out of the NICU when she was 2 days old and we

both came home when she was 5 days old.

While I was disappointed, I am so thankful that modern medicine

exists and that we both survived...without the emergency c/section

we both would have died. In my opinion, it was a small price to pay

for our lives.

Now, I am in the waiting mode after my abdominal myo. I would

definitely like to attempt VBAC next time - I think a natural birth

experience must be amazing. My Dr. thinks I have an 80% chance. If

it's not possible, though, I am TOTALLY ok with having c/section

again, especially if that's in the best interest of the baby & me.

And, hopefully next time if I do have a c/section, I won't be under

general anesthesia and my husband can be present and we will both be

there & awake for our child's birth.

I hope that you can come to peace with your situation and focus more

on what you DO have - a healthy dd and hopefully the ability to have

more children, even if the birth wasn't or won't be exactly how you

had hoped. If you still have really intense feelings of

disappointment about it maybe you could consider counseling to help

you through. A good counselor can make a huge difference for many

people. I wish you the best, and enjoy your dd!

~Cindy
