Guest guest Posted June 1, 2004 Report Share Posted June 1, 2004 I am 48 years old, I have a fibroid in the wall of my uterus. My monthly cycles are almost unbearable from the heavy bleeding. I did have a D&C last October and the doctor took 5X7 photos of the fibroid for me to proudly display. The D&C helped for a month or two, but now I am back to bleeding to death. The period last a good 7 days with 2 days of running to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Now my question......My tubes were tied when I was 29 so birth control is not an issue. My doctor feels I am on the door step to menopause. His new idea is to insert this IUD called Mirena, the medication in this thing last for 5 years, in reading about this...its claim to fame is the reduction or no period over this time!!! WOW, no period!! My doctor feels that in 5 years the big " M " will happen and life will be good. I am looking for opinions, and feelings on this Mirena....one other point, I am non-insulin dependent diabetic. Thanks for your help!!! God bless!
