Guest guest
Several of you have recently asked how to prevent needing a 2nd, or 3rd myomectomy. Nothing will really prevent it, but having a really good surgeon perform your operation makes it more likely that all the fibroids currently there are removed. Often women here have posted that their doctor removed some of the fibroids, but were unable to remove all of them. I've never heard of that happening with the best surgeons. Somebody also recently asked about timing of a myomectomy and planning of a pregnancy. When I had my first myo, 18 years ago, the surgeon told me that my chances of conceiving would be best soon after the myo. And that if I waited too long, fibroid regrowth would be more likely to create problems. Since I've never attempted pregnancy, we don't know how things would have worked out. But I would suspect that this is why some doctors suggest that women who are not in extreme discomfort try to delay a myomectomy until you're ready to conceive. Carla, are you willing to share with us the names of the medical guests who will be at the MeetUp? Also, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to the MeetUp, but I was hoping that Carla and some other folks who come in from out-of-town might hang around for the evening. Is that a possibility? I was even hoping we might have some meeting with Carla either a day or two before or after the MeetUp. Are there other folks who can't make it Saturday but would like to try another meeting with Carla? R.
