Re: BUMP: Test Ranges Differing from Lab to Lab

Different Labs use different methods, different reagents, calibrate equipment

differently perhaps, or have different " population " that determines their Ref

Range.

I always use SAME Lab, test SAME time of day (same day in cycle if applicable),

ALWAYS fasting, BEFORE meds & supps, SAME time since last HRT (if applicable

such as 12 hours since last Progesterone, DHEA, Estradiol).

I do this to achieve ,as much as possible, consistent validly comparable

results.

In other words I can & do use the same Lab & suggest you do so IF you want to

compare previous dose & results.

Thank you, Lee. One problem is that the Quest result was done after taking 1/2

my morning dose of HC but no t3, of course. SO the result could be a bit lower

than it should have been if the HC pushed some of the t3 into the cells. So even

if I go back to Quest, I am really not testing under the same conditions unless

I take 1/2 the HC again, which I don't think I should do as I do think it alters

the results and thus that 357 I got on 75 t3 is likely inaccurate anyway. :-(

Since I would prefer to use TriCore for my future labs, maybe I should continue

going there? I can at least compare that 5.8 value I got last week with whatever

I get tomorrow and just continue to use TriCore to monitor myself.

Or, and this is really crazy, BUT I could go to BOTH labs just this once and see

what they come back at. ;-)

Differnt labs use differnt techniques ot measure thus the differing

ranges. the best way to compare one lab to another is to use percentages

of each respective range.

Thank you, Val.

I am going to get another full thyroid panel tomorrow. As I didn't get a ft4 or

TSH last week, I have no idea if the ft3 is good or just pooling. :-(
