Guest guest
Hi everybody, I saw another gyn doctor yesterday (2nd opinion). I have a 2 cm submucosal fibroid located in the middle part of the uterus (anterior). The physician said the uterine wall is 1 inch thick. He said my submucosal fibroid is 1 inch. He said that if the submucosal fibroid occupies the uterine wall, there is a possibility that they will have to do a hysterectomy! I asked if I could have an MRI to see how far embedded the fibroid is in the uterine wall. He declined, said insurance companies are funny and they (HMO) might question why he wanted an MRI. I need to know how far embedded that fibroid is in the uterine wall, before I schedule surgery and before I make a decision to have the fibroid removed at all. I had a saline hystersonogram done. He said he will call that doctor who did that test to see if it shows how far embedded the fibroid is. I obtained the written record on that test. I states the size of the fibroid, but the written report on that test does not state how far embedded the fibroid is in the uterine wall. Has anyone else had these types of questions for their doctors? Is there a definitive test to determine how far embedded a submucosal fibroid is? I am going to keep attempting to have an MRI done. Again, the doctors cannot assure me that a hystereoscopic resection will not turn into a hysterectomy for me. I also asked the doctor if he used Vasopressin of Pitressin to control bleeding during the surgery and he said he does not. Any information on tests for predicting how far embedded the fibroid is will be helpful. Also, is it not necessary to use Vasopressin of Pitressin to control bleeding during a hysteroscopic resection? Thanks everyone.
