Guest guest
Hi all, I am really feeling good especially today. Its one week today that Dr. West was just starting surgery at St. s hospital.. I had general anesthesia and woke up a little wuzzy but never did experience nausea. My throat got a little dry but I had berry cough drops which I sucked on. I would had eaten them anyway because I finished 2 boxes in the few days before the surgery even began. Thats just me. Theres some goody in my purse and I just think, hmm. that would be yummy now. The first day the nurse put dilaudid (i think) in my intravenous for pain. I dont know if you would call it pain but (im a big baby) so I asked for somethin the minute I felt a tugging. Thats what I would feel. Soon my very nice roommate was wheeled in after her abdominal hysterectomy. Im 51 years old. My roommate was 40years old . She just couldnt take the bleeding from her fibroids anymore. I dont know who her doctor was . My catheter came out really fast . I was scared and thought , oh, now ill have to get up to pee. Surgery was 7:30am and i think I got up that evening to pee(with assistance fromthe nurse.Walked very slowly but I wlked to the toilet and I Peed. It was great.Next day , I.V> came out and I was walking, peeing and any med that I needed came as perocet. No problem for me. My roomie had a pca pump and had a lot of nausea. Anyway , discharge was next day and my hubby took me back to hotel room in Chelsea. Up to now, I had basically liquid diet. I hadnt pooped and didnt want to think about it. But I was hungary. I made my husband call Dr. West and ask him how bad for me a tiny pastrami sandwich from Katzs deli would be. Dr. West was so cute. He said of course I could and that it was so delicious . He almost met Chuck there himself. I stayed in the hotel room but I smelled my sandwich coming down the hall as Chuck returned. I ate one quarter and some soup and prayed that i wouldnt pay for this later. Oh my G-d, was that great. I rested but then thought, (tuesday was surgery- could I go to a show on friday) NOW I Was Glad that I changed my plane tickets just so i could see another show). Called Dr. West and he told me that Im great to go ot and enjoy. Just use common sense as to what your body tells you). I did use New York as a mini vacation but I felt that I could do it. This is not the normal situation. I did get tender in the abdomen and very black and blue. Maybe because i ran around. But I felt great. I have great surgery photos.. 20 intramural fibroids. Two were the size of melons. I weight 7 pounds less. I am 122 pounds.I flew home on Sunday(5 days post op) and had a great flight. My tummy felt very secure and Dr. West spent much time explaining what and how he did things and how layers were sewn by him within the uterus and the outside layer is some kind of crazy glue that feels so secure. Its amazing. The anticipation is the culprit. Today, my tummy feels even more ease. I write more latter. I dont know what aspects of this people want to hear. Let me know. Dolly, dont worry about a thing if thats possible. You are going to hug that man. Good luck May myos. If anyone wants to talk to me, let me know. I am so happy to pee normally. You have no idea of the burden thats been lifted. And my 13 year old doggy is fine. Love to all, ne
