Guest guest
Lai, it is not unusual for them to grow. If you aren't having problems from them then you are not in trouble. They are tumors and that is what they do GROW. It is no fun having them but if you want to ask about having them out or something think about those questions but if you aren't having symptoms then relax. Remember these are benign tumors...not cancerous. The chance of it being cancer is soooo tiny and the truth is in the time you waited...if it was cancer you'd probably be in more trouble. They'd be bigger etc. What city are you in? Maybe someone can suggest someone for a second opinion if you are nervous still after talking to your Doctor but it is okay. You'll be fine. e --- " L. Guest guest
Dear Lai, Don't be scared! Fibroids are extremely common, maybe as many as 50% of women have them, but many never even know because they cause no problems. e is right - fibroids are not cancer and no-one ever dies of them. They grow as a result of oestrogen levels in the body, but not at a steady rate - lots of women experience sudden fast growth but this is not dangerous in itself. Ultrasounds are a bit subjective too - the ultrasound operator has to interpret what they see and different operators may measure your fibroids differently. Also the size of your fibroids changes at different times in your menstrual cycle. If they are not causing you any problems right now, you have the option of not treating them - the so-called 'watch and wait' option. Many women on this list would say it's better to use the waiting time to learn as much as possible about your fibroids and the different treatments available. If you start reading and thinking now you will be better prepared to meet your gynaecologist in April. There are many good books, one in particular I'd recommend is 'What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibroids' by Goodwin, Broder and Drum. Read back through the old messages on this website too. Another good message board if you are interested in alternative remedies is HealingNaturallyFromFibroids, also on yahoogroups. Give yourself time to take it all in before you make any decisions, but don't just ignore the fibroids either - chances are you will want to do something about them sooner or later. Best wishes, phine > Hi, sisters, > > I am a foreign studnet living alone in this country. My period is normal and without pain. > Anyway, I had an ultrasound this morning. The report shows that they are growing to 9.7x8.8x7.4am and 5.9x5.9x5.9cm. I am scared!
