My husband even noticed it before I did. He commented to me again yesterday that " you seem to always be cold since you had the surgery " . I was not anemic before surgery and I am not anemic now. But this cold feeling is starting to get to me. Does anyone have a possible explanation? or comment? Thanks ladies. L Hi, L: Cold intolerance (and/or always feeling cold) is also one of the signs of HYPOthyroidism. There are quite a few LOL with hypothyroidism (or Hashimoto's thyroiditis) who I'm sure can give you the lowdown on this condition. I'd say, next to anemia, a diagnosis of hypothyroidism is ONE of the MOST LIKELY causes of always feeling cold. Some people may have undiagnosed hypothyroidism because their physicians do not order all the proper blood tests. Because T3 is the more active hormone that actually regulates metabolism, make sure you are tested for T3(triiodothyronine) in addition to T4 (thyroxine) and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone). That said.....what is the *LEAST likely* cause of your feeling cold symptom, in my opinion? Welllllllll............ you do mention that you have been cold ever since your surgery, right? During surgery, operating rooms are always kept cool. So it could have started then..... Also note that anesthesia can disrupt the body's temperature control mechanism. That's why many of us LOL report shivering so much or feeling cold upon waking up in Recovery--because the body's temperature control mechanism has been affected--sometimes as much as three to four degrees lower near the surgical site. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! Um.....Right.....I guess A GOOD SIX MONTHS AFTER your surgery....... you wouldn't STILL be under the influence of anesthesia, would 'ya?!!!!!! OK, so much for my amateur creative medical brainstorming diagnosing !!! You can discard my silly (but imaginative) " Post Operative Ongoing Hypothermia " ( " POOH " ) hypothesis!! IMPORTANT MUSICAL NOTE: While you're trying to determine the cause of your feeling chilly all the time, be sure to revisit the Mick Jagger/ lyrics........a song that described a woman with your exact symptom!!!! :-) Who could ever forget " She's So Cold " (circa 1980). I guarantee your basal body temp will be quite a few degrees WARMER..... after you're done singing/dancing your heart out/air-guitar-ing to this HOT oldie!!!!! " Yeah, I tried re-wiring her, tried re-firing her I think her engine is permanently stalled She's so cold she's so cold She's so cold cold cold Like a tombstone She's so cold, she's so cold she's so cold cold cold like an ice cream cone She's so cold she's so cold I dare not touch her my hand just froze She's so cold, she's so cold, cold, she's so c-c-c-old But she's beautiful, though Yeah, she's so cold She's so cold, she's so cold She was born in an arctic zone She's so cold she's so cold, cold, cold I dare not touch her my hand just froze She's so cold, she's so goddamn cold she's so Cold cold cold she's so cold Who would believe you were a beauty indeed? You're so cold, you're so cold, cold, cold You're so cold, you're so colddddddddddd!!! " Warmly, Rockin and Rollin' Roma Stone
