Guest guest
I came across this while searching the net today and it irritated me so I'm sharing This group sent in a letter to the FDA in 1995 asking them to deny RU- 486 NDA (new drug authorization?) as an abortion drug. In section 3.d. they cite women with fibroids as a special patient population with risks of bleeding. This may be so for some women but their footnotes (use the little window at the bottom of the screen and scroll down to #39 and 40). I hate to think that this document held any sway with the FDA. Citizen Petition to the Food and Drug Administration on RU-486 by Americans United for Life http://www.fnsa.org/v1n3/americans.html Since a lot of the arguments about RU-486 are related to its labeled use for abortions it seems like some of the nonsense blocking its availability for treatment of other conditions would be facilitated by it being labeled for use in treating conditions that are less politically charged such as fibroids. No? Here is the manufacturer's website: http://www.earlyoptionpill.com/ No mention of fibroids that I found. Ann
