Guest guest
There are lots of us here who have had embolization and there is also another support group here on yahoo called 'embo'. You might want to check that out - lots of women who had, are having, or thinking about that procedure specifically. Lots of good info in the archives. The procedure is arguably less invasive than almost any of the surgical treatments, and the recovery is very fast, although symptom relief sometimes can take a while. I had the bulk symptoms (like you) and wasn't much of a bleeder. My 10cm fibroid (and several smaller friends) was just causing more and more discomfort and the urinary problems were becoming more severe. I did the research and it looked like embo would be a good place to start - if it didn't work out then I could explore other options. I was really hoping to avoid surgery. Anyway, I had mine on May 28th, 2003. So not quite a year yet. I have been delighted with the results, and I was fortunate in that I saw symptom relief pretty much immediately. The recovery was very fast also. it's actually great that this procedure was recommended to you. So many women have been told to have a hysterectomy under similar conditions, and that's really overkill. Should I be worried? Is there anyone in this group who has had embolization and can comment on it? Help!
Guest guest
Hi Laurie Thanks for the feedback. I have read a lot of good things about embolization, but it's more reassuring to hear from people who have had it, especially you since I was cautioned that the procedure is sometimes more successful at aleviating bleeding than it is at relieving pressure symptoms. I have less than a month to wait! Thanks,
