Hi, everyone! I was just diagnosed with fibroids last week. I was

very surprised, as I know of no one else in my family and I am only

28.

Last Tuesday, I ended up in the hospital because AF was so heavy

(changing pads every 30 minutes or so), and I fainted--twice. The

ONLY reason I went to the emergency room was because of the fainting,

as my periods had been getting steadily heavier since November. (I

had scheduled my annual for April 15th, so I had planned on going to

my doctor.) Anyway, because of anemia (which I knew I had), I was

admitted for 2 nights and given two blood transfusions. When I went

in my hemoglobin around 8. After the transfusion, it was around 9,

and they were trying to get me to a 10 to release me. A transvaginal

ultrasound found the two fibroids.

Anyway, I would like to hear comments about submucous fibroids. This

is what I have been told that I have--one at the top and one at the

bottom of my uterus. My husband and I have been trying to get

pregnant for one year (another reason I had an appointment for April

15), and we have been told that because of the placement of my

fibroids, it has probably interfered with the implantation of the

egg. I am very worried about my fertility.

I don't go to an ob/gyn who specializes in fibroids and fertility

issues until Monday, so I have a lot of time to imagine the worst

case scenario over here (as I read " Sex, Lies and the Truth about

Uterine Steriods " by Carla Dionne, so PLEASE let me hear from some of

you. Thanks!
