This message is in response to Amy's request for a

recommendation for a NYC doc for fibroid treatment and

who has fertility concerns. I agree with others who've

commented that the surgery for donor-egg deal is

worrisome.

I'm glad to recommend my ob/gyn, Jacques Moritz. He is

affiliated with Roosevelt Hospital. You can find

details about his training, specialties, and interests

at the following website:

http://www.nywomenshealth.com/faculty/moritz.htm

I have not yet had myo surgery with him, since I have

not yet treated my fibroids (2 of them, both over

10x10 cm, but thankfully they're shrinking now!). I'm

seeing Moritz for my pregnancy and chose him because I

had heard great things about him and knew of his

special interest in fibroid treatment (had been

diagnosed with the fibroids right before becoming

pregnant). He does have a specialty in UAE, so you

could discuss your concerns with him. But he won't try

to pressure you to do it if you don't want it.

Instead, he'll describe a variety of options for you,

listen to your concerns, and let you decide in light

of the information he provides. He's very interested

in alternatives to hysterectomy, and he has a great

deal of respect for women and their abilities to make

decisions regarding their own health. He works with a

terrific nurse, and the other staff in the office are

pleasant (I see him at his 57th street location).

Two warnings: 1) He's so great that he's super busy.

Be prepared to wait to get on his schedule and then be

prepared to wait when you get to the office. 2) He

likes to joke. Some might find this off-putting. It's

just his way of being friendly; it isn't that he

doesn't take you (or your condition!) seriously. He's

smart and very attentive.

Good luck!

Christa
