Guest guest
Hi, i am sorry to hear that..don't give up..what i have been told is that fibroids DO NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY...i was diagnosed with two fibroids: one large one is at the right posterior fundus, measuring 4.5 x 3.7 x 4.6 cm. The second largest is at the left lower uterine body, measuring 1.6 x 1.4 . 1.6 cm..endometrial thickness is above normal limits at 1.6 cm, and it is inhomogeneous..the uterus is slightly prominent in size, measuring 8.6 cm length x 3.7 x 5.8 cm..my periods just started to get funny for the last 2 months and i was concerned and went to GP who said...Ultrasound..these were the results..i then said...specialist...and the specialist who is in Toronto said..i am not doing any surgery...end of story..try for 6 months...but i guarantee i won't see you until i am delivering your baby...i am 37 years old...just got married in 2002..TTC #1...good luck..keep trying..keep in touch..Sherri Hi There, I have huge fibroids that are all outside my uterus and give me very little trouble exept they are now so big they are pressing up against my rib cage. My largest one is 14 cm pedunculated, although it feels as though the fibroids are hip to hip above my belly button. I have a smaller one that is very low too all of which I can feel & mvoe around myself. My boyfriend who I have been with for almost 4 years has decided he does not want to have kids, I am devastated to say the least as I am turning 40 this year! The last OBGYN I saw a wonderful doctor outside Toronto said that surgery should always be the last thing a woman should do unless the fibroids are causing extreme problems. I have always held off having surgery because of the risk of hysterectomy and my very strong desire to have children...both my Mom and Grandmother had hyst because of fibroids and I do not want to follow in their shoes. Now I am completly heart broken and afraid I won't find another partner in time to have a child...has any out there gone through something like this...and ended up having had a child against all odds... Thanks so much, Nadine
Guest guest
Sherri, I have been ttc for one year; I have 3 fibroids, the largest is 7 cm. One OB/GYN and one RE have told me that the fibroids were causing infertility. Did your RE tell you that fibroids don't cause infertility? I thought that it depended on the size and location... Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, i did not go to an RE. I went to a OB/GYN specialist in Toronto. He indicated to me that they do not cause infertility. I know that my OB/GYN told me that mine were okay where they were and that he would not take them out...he said, " TRY FOR SIX MONTHS..if nothing happens then he will run tests, otherwise he is NOT doing surgery..he was adamant! It seems that ever since i went to the specialist..i have not had any more symptoms or pain or long periods...seems weird...i don't know what to say...hope this helps... suza622@... wrote: One OB/GYN and one RE have told me that the fibroids were causing infertility.
