Guest guest
Welcome Storm! ( I love that name!) Whew...you have had quite a history with these fibroids! Rest assured you are in the right place here! These ladies will take care of you and I would say almost no question goes unanswered! Good luck with your second opinion....you might want to go to a Reproductive Endocronoligist as they deal with fibroids and PCOS more than your average OB/GYN does....also, they are more experienced at surgical procedures! Welcome again!
Guest guest
Hi! Sounds like the fibroids may be the cause of your miscarrages. Don't know a whole lot about this, but from what I've read, they can cause miscarrgages as a fetus and fibroid both fight for the blood supply. The fibroid usually wins. Lupron will not solve your fibroid problems. They will grow back as soon as you stop and you can't stay on that stuff long term. In fact, I thought it was used right before menopause, or before surgery. (to shrink them) Why don't you look into Myoectomy, or maybe you would qualify for another type of procedure since your fibroids are small, you have more obtions. You should keep researching but take some kind of action so you can get started on having a baby! Guest guest
Hiya Storm! Have a look at the Yahoo site ttc myomectomy. I also read something interesting in an Amazon review of a book about natual birth control, fertility etc. that women who are really good at understanding their cycle changes can realise the best days for getting pregnant may be slightly different from what they were told by their GP. It's something to look into. < I kept on having horrible pain and I kept having to pee.> Either could be the pressure the fibroids(If urinating ever becomes really hard, don't delay in seeing a doctor.) Fibroids can also muck up cycles and bleeding. Some women have very heavy flooding bleeds and clots because of fibroids. They can also cause back ache, pain with sex, a fat bloated stomach and tiredness ( anaemia, for instance). But symptoms vary from person to person. Is your GP aware of the post birth control cycle problem? There may be something they can do to help, or may say something interesting and useful on this. FIbroids can really make you question everything, when you're there wondering if you'll be able to have kids or ever be symptom-free, why you didn't study fibroids in University instead, and why the girls who did everything 'wrong' in life have it all. me " infertile " , even though I've been pregnant twice, I do not feel I am, as the 2 times we tried to get pregnant, we did.> It does seem odd they would call you infertile then. Ask loads of questions about that. That may be due to fibroids. Some women go through pregnancies OK with fibroids and others don't. It's not down to you, it's down the to type, size and location of your fibroids. < I have 2 intramural (I think that's the word, however, that sure > sounds like a sports term...LOL) fibroids...they're in the wall of > my uterus. > I have some little intra murals too. The surgeon left them in when I had a myomectomy last year. They should have been able to tell from a routine external ultrasound, which is what we all generally have a variation on a theme of. You aren't the only person that age on the forum. It makes me wonder if more women don't have them in their twenties but it's not spotted because it takes that long for women to come forward about embarrassing things. Also they may be fobbed off with wrong diagnosis or maybe it's discovered during first evr smear tests, when girls visit GP's going on contraception and when they think they're or are pregnant. I'm just speculating. < From what I know from 2 years ago, my fibroids are back to the size they were before the Lupron from 4 years ago.> Yes they will regrow after you stop taking the drugs like these and they're usually used in the run up to an operation I think. I wasn't prescribed any. < I also am supposed to have PCOS on top of everything else.> Go to 'Soul Cysters' message board. It is a terrific site. In the UK you can get a couple of books on PCOS in igh street book shops. Do be a bit careful that your docs are informed about fibroids and PCOS before agreeing to any surgeries or drugs for anything. Sme gynaecologica conditions have a simiar set of potential symptoms. Women's health books like Miriam Stoppards are handy. < If so...I wonder how long I've had these? Even when I was bone skinny, I always had a little " pooch " belly.> I am not obese, but I have a small bloated gut too Not all PCOS sufferers are obese. On soul cysters there's a special column for 'slim cysters'. However weight is a problem associated with it. Doctors will tell some patients to lose weight, but some of these conditions cause a bloating anyway, as with large or sticking out fibroids! Sensible healthy weight los is supposed to help ease symptoms, helping the body balance. Try and eat healthily as it may help symptoms and the body coping, check out some of the excellent internet sites (Some are in the links) and get a book or two on fibroids, if you haven't already as they are invaluable. All the best Aztek (Abdom myo UK last summer)
