Guest guest
As I answered the other post, I wonder why these doctors prescribe ablation for women with fibroids???? This is not the problem!!! the fibroid is causeing the bleeding. Having an ablation is a treatment for women that do not have fibroids!!In this case it works very very well!! For major bleeding problems, look into UFE!! It is a fibroid treatment, kills the fibroid and shuts the bleeding off like a switch. It has worked for me. I had a 10cm fibroid and was gushing and bleeding at periods, then even breakthrough bleeding. So frightneing. I became anemic but had my UFE 1 month ago. I'm doing great and feeling fine!! I can tell you why doctors prescribe ablation for women with fibroids - because it is a procedure that they know how to do. The first doctor I saw told me that vaginal hyst was my best option. He said that he could do a myo (abdominal) but that fibroids usually grow back, (which is not true, especially for me as I was in my mid forties already) but that if I wanted to wait on the hyst he could try an ablation. Of course there was no mention of UAE since he does not do that procedure. After doing my research and finding this group I learned that I could have hysteroscopic resection for my 3cm fibroid. Yes! He wanted to toss my uterus because of one tiny fibroid which I had removed in a outpatient procedure. And why didn't he recommend resection? Because he doesn't know how to do it! There is only one doctor in my area that does this procedure and I was lucky enough to find her. So I think that the reason why docs do ablation when they KNOW that it is not an effective treatment for fibroids is to keep you as a patient until you submit to a hyst.
