I'm the parent of , a 5 year old autistic child, here in

the UK. 1 and a half years ago we had a prognosis on him from our

tertiary psychologist that basically said, he is what he is and

nothing can change it.

My wife Sue and I don't want to accept that and are thus looking at

what other options are available.

We have implemented a Son-rise program at home having attended son-

rise courses in the US with and found those beneficial.

We have him on the wheat and dairy free diet. This has really helped

with his behaviour - before the diet he was " full on " for 23 hours a

day! We also know that b6, magnesiuum & zinc really help with his

behaviour - less tantrums, increase in verbalisation.

I'm now looking into the whole issue of metal toxicity, hence I've

joined this group. I've started doing my research and am now trying

to get to the bottom of all the different claims - and it is all

getting quite tricky!

What I'd really like to ask is:

For autistic children, has chelation helped?

Whether it did or not, which ones did you try? DMSA etc

Has anyone found a UK doctor who will advise on this - I'm concerned

about the need to maintain levels of other minerals etc and to repeat

testing.

Finally, I'd like to thank all those of you who have previously

posted articals on the site - it really has helped me understand a

lot more!
