Guest guest
Hi , So sorry to hear about your cold, but if it doesn't get better by a week prior to the op., you may want to talk to your doctor about re- scheduling.A friend of mine had a bad cold with cough when she went in for her myo, and the Dr. told her no way they could operate with her like that -- she had to go home again and postpone her operation. Of course there's the pain issue post-op. (UN-imaginable to cough just after the op.-- it would feel like tearing the incision open! Even now, almost a month after my myo, it is still a bit uncomfortable to cough), but there's also the fact that a) they tube you while you are under, and if it gets blocked with gunk, etc from the cold, you could gag on it (or sth. like that) -- I'm not a Dr., so take this as an amateur's commnet ok? and you could catch pneumonia, etc after an op. if your immune system is down at the time of the op., so it could be very dangerous. I know how frustrating it must feel -- I had a cold myself before my myo, but I managed to JUST about get rid of it completely in time - whew. I think catching colds at this time has to do with all the stress you are under pre-myo... Fingers crossed for you that you will shake it off soon, but if not, call your Gyno before the scheduled day to ask for advice, ok? Good luck! Chie > hi - i still have this deep dry cough, ( it is really gut wrenching when i cough, and i feel it in my abdominals, so i imagine it would kill me after surgery) It is a result of a recent cold i got.....my luck the only cold i will get this year happens right before surgery. I never had any fever, just a nasty cold......i will call my doc. by next week if i am not better, to see if he wants me to have surgery with this cough. worse case, i have to wait one more month. i hope not since i want to get it OVER with. > I HOPE i am better by next week, as surgery is two weeks from today. > I am doing everything possible to get rid of it, but so far it hangs on. > take care,
