Hi ,

I had a hysteroscopic resection in November for a submucosal fibroid. My

post op visit was also 2 weeks out. It was through a pelvic exam that my Dr.

decided I had an infection. Her words were " Your Uterus is way to tender for a

two week post op " She wouldn't have known that if she hadn't examined me! I

remember after my tubal she did a brief pelvic at my post op to " check that your

ovaries aren't tender, " apparently to rule out infection. I didn't have my

temp taken either but I did have to return to make sure that my infection went

away, again by a pelvic to check for tenderness. So I would think that an exam

would be done in all cases just to make sure that all the structures are

returning to normal. I actually didn't respond to the first antibiotic and

called 4

days later as I was in a lot of pain. My Dr. made me come in that day. The

assistant (a per diem covering for a vacation) asked me if I wanted " to just

talk to her or get undressed. I told her I thought a Dr. had to examine someone

who's complaint was pain such as mine, esp. when coupled with a known

infection. I was right.

So I do agree that you got shortchanged especially if you had a known

infection. Also to have to ask her to look at your incision is wrong, its basic

follow up care to check the incision she made! Was this a Dr. you've known or

someone you went to just for this? In either case I would feel the need to

complain to her or someone as she could be missing things on her patients. I

think

you described it nicely with the phrase one night stand!
