Guest guest
It is good that you aren't listening to your doctor - it won't necessarily correct on its own, especially if it is severe. There are several types of head shapes, and it sounds like your daughter might have a combo of plagio and brachy. Plagio is asymmetric, so one side is flatter than the other. Brachy is flatness across the back, and usually involves extra width or height. As for treatment there is a starband provider in Germany: http://www.orthomerica.com shows this ONE in Germany: Pro Walk GmbH Benedikt Preisler, PT Woogstr, 48 D-63329 Egelsbach, Germany 0049-6103-706420 Fax: 0049-6103-7064239 Email: preisler@... www.star-band.de I know there was someone in this group who got treatment in Ge a few years ago, but I don't know if it was this provider. There is a DOCband provider in Spain (2 offices) - you can find the locations at www.cranialtech.com. I know this clinic has a good reputation. If you wanted to travel back to the US, you would need to stay for several months since bands need to be adjusted every few weeks. I added " Germany " to the subject line, so it might catch someone's eye. In the meantime you can also look at the repositioning tips in the files section. I think your child is a little old for repo alone to work unless the plagio is mild, but it might keep it from getting worse. Basically you want to keep all pressure off the flat area(s) and put gentle pressure on the prominent areas (make baby sleep/rest on the prominent side). The problem with repo is at around age 6 mo kids are very mobil and don't really stay where you put them. However your doctor's advice that the baby moving more will fix it isn't really that likely to work. It is try that she'll tend to spend less time resting on the flat spot, but it won't even out the flatness that has already developed. Please feel free to ask any questions you have. There are lots of helpful parents in this group. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hello all! I am new to the group and am hoping you can help me.
