Guest guest
My Dr. used sutures on the inside & staples on the outside. The staples were removed 6 days after surgery. I'm not sure why some use staples vs. sutures on the outside - most people I know have had staples. Perhaps they are a little sturdier & easier to remove or maybe just a personal preference for each Dr.? I would ask your Dr. which s/he will be using & why. I have had 2 ab surgeries (emergency c/section & ab myo 1 year apart) and had staples on the outside both times. They were not uncomfortable while I had them or painful when removed. For the myo on 2/19 they had to use extra strength sutures on the inside since it was the second incision in the same place. The bottom suture can be felt through the skin and occasionally pokes me if I turn a certain way. My Dr. said it will eventually dissolve but will take time. Good luck to you! ~Cindy > Some of the doctors spoke of using staples post > surgery. Others use sutures. Anyone know what the pros > and cons of these choices are?
