Ann,

I made a powerpoint presentation for a workshop on fibroids with the focus

on UFE for our local women's health collective last year. I got it checked

by an IR. He took the time to review the presentation and give me detailed

feedback.

OK, I am not a physician, but that was clear to everyone. I was focussing a

lot on the psycho-social aspects of dealing with fibroids and dealing with

the medical profession anyway, and I feel totally qualified to lead a

workshop on that. I did a quick and dirty English translation so that

Pat could give me her feedback. If you'd like the presentation pls let me

know on vnorton@..., you could use it as a basis maybe. No need to

re-invent the wheel.

I am also organising an event for physicians on fibroids, have 40 of them

signed up and two weeks to go, so may get further registrations. I have the

support of the local medical association. I am not absolutely sure that the

gyno talking about laparascopic myomectomy is an expert but the IR will be

good and I am also going to give a talk from the patient perspective. They

are going to get a handout with a few interesting articles, such as we have

in German. I hope to get a few messages across for example

- fibroids cause quality of life issues

- many women don't want hysterectomy

- UFE is a valid procedure

If we manage to make one or two of these people think differently about

fibroids, it will have been worth it.
